Giveaway: Sookie is DEADLOCKED! Happy Release Day Charlaine Harris! Everybody welcome back to Bon Temps!

I have to admit something: After finishing Dead Reckoning  I was a little bit disappointed. Don’t get me wrong, it was a great story as only Mrs. Harris can write, but there’s been a road traveled since Dead Until Dark and you can notice a little bit more slowness in every book that comes out. After reading it in less than 48 hours, I thought that the high expectations I had for it would do Sookie a little bit of justice. Dead in the Family started a little bit bumpy, but for all the promotion and expectation that all of us die hard Sookie fans had, I really wanted to CRY after I finished this book.

In the last installment of the Southern Vampire Mysteries, we see a very mature Sookie, an Eric with a heavier and more violent plot against Victor Madden, a strangely lovesick Bill who after so many books still has feelings for Sookie, a wacky crazy Sandra Pelt who will hold no barriers to destroy Sookie, a mellower Claude, and a more brotherly Jason. Let’s not forget our good old Sam Merlotte and his new girlfriend.
All characters as you have grown to love in this series are unique, and realistic enough you actually feel part of the story. Something I must praise Mrs. Harris for is the narrative style she uses and the way it becomes so easy to follow through when it’s a story written in first person. Sookie has become an icon herself in the Paranormal / Mystery world and for all of us who LOVE the series; the expected release of Deadlocked is going to be bittersweet. We know from Mrs. Harris herself that next year will be the end of Sookie, and as she announced a few weeks ago in the RT Convention, her final destination will be reached with the release of  “Dead Ever After”, a very proper title if you ask me.

My very first vampire love is not Twilight, nor it is The Black Dagger Brotherhood (though I met fabulous friends through those), it is and will always be The Southern Vampire Mysteries a.k.a Sookie Stackhouse, and because I really want to share with you guys this happiness/sadness of the most anticipated release of DEADLOCKED, I want to give away a brand new hardcover copy to one of you.

What do you have to do?
1st, if you are not following this blog, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!? then, Leave a comment telling me which is your FAVORITE Sookie book, and a particular scene you love from that book. I also would LOVE for you to help me spread the news and invite friends of yours to join my blog, so I’ll give you a few weeks to recruit people (the more the merrier). I will select a winner on Mother’s Day 5/13 via random.org.
P.S. Don’t forget about the release on DVD of True Blood Season 4, based on book 4, Dead to the World on 5/29!

  1. Good lord. This makes me realize I really need to reread these. The one that sticks out the most is #7 All Together Dead. The part where her and Eric are bound closer then they were, to keep the queen from getting her in the queen’s control.

Hmm Dead Until Dark was the first book I ever bought from a bookstore and that is still a really important moment for me. I can’t remember exactly what moments I loved about it but it really got me into reading!

I’ve developed a few favourites as I read along the series so it is kinda difficult to choose, but for the purposes of getting a chance to win that copy of Deadlocked, I’d say Living Dead In Dallas with Eric Northman in purple spandex is pretty unforgettable!

  6. I’m right with you! I love the Harris’ vampires, maybe not with the passion that Twilighters love their sparkly vamps, but Sookie and her crew are high on my list of faves.

  9. I have enjoyed the entire series… The first one will always be my favorite, due to character introductions and whatnot. Ms. Harris has always been very adept at character development. I can’t wait to see where things go from here! Hope I win! I have the entire set in hardcover! Must complete the collection!!!
